Spring Break

Hey, it’s time for spring break.  Are you prepared? Those who enjoy vacationing during this period are most likely trying to decide on the best place to spend time and resources. However, there are some additional items that deserve careful and thoughtful consideration. It’s no wonder many people have concerns for their personal safety as well as the safety of those who will accompany them on vacation. Rightfully so. There is so much political unrest both here and abroad–not the least of which is the ever-escalating US war with Iran and its effects on the Middle East and many other parts of the world! Trying to take in and fully understand the implications for this unrest and other important, but stressful issues of everyday life can often lead to feelings of anxiety, of helplessness, and of hopelessness.

It is always wise to stay informed. But, it is also easy to over-saturate your brain and your emotions with the good and with the troubling news of current events streaming live on TV, as well as the meaningful and the meaningless posts inundating social media. A break from this unrelenting noise is clearly warranted, as we seek quiet time to decipher what is and what is not in our control.

A few important suggestions: Find a safe place to vacation, both physically and mentally. Be exra kind to yourself and be sure to surround yourself with people who care about you and who uplift your spirits. Treat each day as a gift and strive to live each moment of life to its fullest. There is always much more in life to be grateful for and happy about. Use the time during spring break to focus on positive thoughts and to avoid as much as possible the stress and the worry associated with what can and what will be.  Relax and enjoy the people and the things around you!
