Dr. Tania Diaz

Tania Diaz, PsyD

Dr. Diaz is a licensed psychologist, a qualified board approved clinical supervisor for mental health counselors, and a HeartMath Certified Trainer. She is certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and experienced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. Historically, Dr. Diaz served as the Program Coordinator for Mental Health Counseling students at Albizu University, where she taught graduate courses and supervised student clinicians. Dr. Diaz has appeared on numerous radio and television programs discussing topics on the importance of mental health hygiene, heart rhythm technology and self-care as well as other topics related to ADHD, Self-Harm, and Bullying. She also owned a boutique private practice in Miami Lakes, Florida before becoming a resident of Georgia, and was named as an honored member of the Trademark Top Doctors of America in 2018.  

Dr. Diaz has 25 years of clinical experience, during which she has specialized in the treatment of anxiety, panic related disorders and depression. She prides herself on offering a holistic approach when serving her clients. She challenges her clients to look within to explore all facets of their experiences, including but not limited to the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual aspects. She is an action-oriented clinician whose interventions are grounded in empirically based approaches enveloped in compassion for self and others.

My Mission

It is my personal and professional belief that mental health is the bedrock of everything you choose to create in your life. Understanding there will be moments in life whereby we all lose our footing, I am committed to providing you the support and guidance needed to help you get back to a life worth living.  I offer a collaborative, judgment free environment whereby I concurrently support and challenge you to become the best rendition of yourself. 

History

Dr. Diaz received her bachelor’s degree from Nova Southeastern University and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University. Dr. Diaz completed her internship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital providing individual, group and family therapy to patients suffering from a variety of mental health issues including PTSD and psychosis. Following her internship, she completed a one-year residency at Everglades Correctional Institution, an all-male maximum security prison. In her 25 years of clinical experience she has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as university counseling centers. In terms of research, Dr. Diaz was invited to participate in the field assessment trials of the development of the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM5) used by all mental health professionals for the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. Dr. Diaz is listed on page 912 of the DSM5 as a Collaborative Investigator.
